Camera thief identified and equipment recovered after CSI #KOT take over case

Photographer Esther Wanjiru has been relieved after recovering her canon 5D camera, which she had been robbed by a gang of thieves posing as NGO workers.

Through a Twitter post, the photographer described how she was duped in public by the robbers who pretended to buy her camera which she had listed for sale on OLX. Things came to a head when they threatened her with her gun.

Wanjiru’s Twitter post attracted a lot of attention after activist and politician Boniface Mwangi retweeted it and  sparked uproar from netizens who disclosed the gang to be notorious of scheming such thefts.

According to Boniface Mwangi, the thief who robbed the photographer  her equipment “poses as as an employee of a fake EU NGO or a camera buyer”. The thief and his gang has managed to pull off at least three robberies from three photographers in a week.

The thieves however cowered from the publicity their vice has attracted following an announcement that the police are looking for them. As a result they returned the camera they stole.
