Cancer screening message dominates DP Ruto’s brother burial

Early screening could significantly reduce the cases of deaths associated with cancer in the country. This was the message from President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto at the burial ceremony of Harrison Kiptoo, Ruto’s younger brother who succumbed to cancer of the kidney last week.

The late Harrison Kiptoo died last week after a battle with kidney cancer, a condition that was, according to his family, discovered a bit late in the day to save his life.

And so the country’s top leadership led by President Uhuru Kenyatta, as well as family and local residents, gathered at his home in Kamagut to pay their last respects.

He is survived by a widow, Agnes, and two sons and as they eulogised him, they would give their personal experience of taking initiatives towards early cancer screening for all.

“He was very hardworking, a very strict Christian and I don’t know why God has chosen him but maybe He didn’t have an engineer up in heaven,” said Agnes.

The late Harrison was laid to rest in his Kamagut home, four days after he passed on at a Nairobi hospital.
