Cause of contaminated Embakasi water yet to be identified

Residents of Embakasi estate in Nairobi will still have to avoid using tap water as the source of contamination is yet to be established.

On Friday, an official from the Kenya Pipeline Company told Citizen Digital that investigations are still underway.

“The Nairobi City Water & Sewerage Company sent officials to the site to test the water and we are still waiting for lab results,” KPC Corporate and Communications officer Kasujaa Onyonyi said.

KPC had released a statement two days warning Embakasi residents to stop using tap water.

This after several people with symptoms such as diarrhea, sought treatment in various hospitals.

The company noted that the cause of the contamination is yet to be established and cautioned residents, particularly those with children, to seek medical attention if affected.

KPC said they have made arrangements to provide clean water for Embakasi residents as they await the laboratory results.

Nairobi Water and Sewerage Company is yet to issue a statement on the situation.
