CBK Governor Given 7 Days To File Petition

Lady Justice Mumbi Ngugi has also directed the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission, the Inspector General of Police and the Attorney General to respond to the embattled CBK boss affidavit within 7 days.

Ndung’u moved to court to block his arrest over the alleged abuse of office in connection with a 1.2 billion shillings security systems tender awarded to Horse Bridge Networks.

The tender according to the office of the Director of Public Prosecution cost the tax-payer an extra 400 million shillings as it was not the lowest bid.

The DPP also added that there is sufficient evidence to charge Central Bank of Kenya Governor Njuguna Ndung’u with corruption.

Prof Ndung’u has however maintained that he was not in any way involved in the tender process and as such he should not be held accountable.

He added that the decision to award the tender to Horse Bridge Networks was made by Public Procurement and the Administrative Review Board.

The case will be heard on the 14th of May.
