Censure Motion Against Speaker A Waste Of Time, Duale

Duale said that the motion being pushed by Kibwezi West Member of Parliament Patrick Musimbi is a way of corruption fighting back claiming that it was orchestrated by people who were against the formation of the Powers and Privileges Committee to investigate the embattled Public Accounts Committee.

Duale was speaking in Garissa town after inspecting the progress made by the Kenya Urban Roads Authority [KURA] in constructing roads undertaken by the national government at a cost of 400 million shillings.

He said that the opposition wants to divert the attention from the Cheboi- led committee on integrity issues to the speaker.

ETHICAL OBLIGATION

He added that the Jubilee leadership is behind the speaker and “will do everything to protect him as far as making sure that the dignity and integrity of the National Assembly is protected”.

Duale said that the speaker should not be victimized as he is the leader of the house and has the moral, legal and ethical obligation at all times to defend its integrity.

He further defended the speaker against accusations that he was not handling matters in the house properly saying that he had done well.

He further defended the Parliamentary watchdog committees which have been accused of being dens of corruption saying that its only two, the PAC and the Agriculture Committee that had been dogged with corruption.

Meanwhile, Bishop Harrison Ng’anga of Christian Foundation Fellowship (CFF) has cautioned that the removal of National Assembly Speaker as contemplated by a section of Parliamentarians through a censure motion is national threat with potential to destabilize the Nation.
