Census enumerator attacked, bitten by dog in Homa Bay
A census enumerator in Homa Bay County is hospitalized after he was attacked and bitten by a dog on Saturday night.
The enumerator was bitten on the thigh by a dog belonging to his neighbour as he was conducting the census exercise in West Kamagak location, Rachuonyo.
Confirming the incident, Rachuonyo South sub-county Deputy County Commissioner Mohamud Ibrahim said the man was attacked at around 10p.m.
Mr. Mohamud added that the man was rushed to Kisii Level Five Hospital where anti-rabies vaccines were unaivalable hence was referred to a Kisumu hospital for specialized vaccination.
The enumerator is recovering and in a stable condition but is unable to continue with the exercise hence he has been replaced by another person who will work in the areas he had been assigned.
