Chebukati wants Supreme Court to clarify his role in results verification
Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission Chairman Wafula Chebukati has filed a case at the Supreme Court seeking interpretation on his role in the verification of Forms 34A in the fresh presidential election slated for the 26th of this month.
Chebukati wants to know which results between tallies contained in Forms 34B submitted to the National Tallying Centre by returning officers and Forms 34A should be used to declare presidential results.
He also wants the Chief Justice David Maraga-led court to also clarify whether the electoral commission and the chairman can correct errors identified in Forms 34B or amend Forms 34 B where results differ.
In the Maina Kiai case, the Appellate Court ruled that the IEBC Chair cannot correct, vary, confirm, alter, modify or adjust results transmitted to National Tallying Centre from the Constituency tallying centre.
