High Court dismisses cancellation of Chebuyusi KCSE results

High Court Judge George Odunga has quashed the decision by the Kenya National Exam Council to cancel results of Chebuyusi High School in Kakamega.

Delivering his ruling on Wednesday morning, the judge said KNEC’s cancellation was not done in accordance with the law.

The national exam body has been given 14 days to carry out proper investigations into allegations of cheating at the school to determine whether the results were valid or not.

Chebuyusi High School had been ranked as the top school in Kakamega County with a mean score of 8.911 in last year’s Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams. The school had also emerged second in the Western region and 16th nationally.

The council however nullified results of over 190 students at the school citing irregularities during Biology and Chemistry exams. It is at this point that the school moved to court to challenge the decision.
