The Kenya Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission(EACC) officials in Kilifi County have arrested Malindi area town chief Mohamed Jadu over allegations of receiving a Ksh 400 bribe. Jadu was arrested by the anti graft officers in his house in Shella after they caught him allegedly receiving the amount from an old woman that was to be used to influence a land dispute in Kasufuni, Malindi.
The woman, Jefwa Mwatela accused the chief of extorting money from her since the land row started adding that the total bribes amount to close to Ksh 100,000. Mwatela added that she took the initiative to report to the EACC after the chief failed to deliver on his promises. North Coast EACC Deputy director Ojowi George confirmed the incident and says that the chief will be arraigned in court next week.
