Residents attack chief for releasing rape suspect

A chief from Ziwa in Uasin Gishu County narrowly escaped the wrath of residents who accused him of corruptly releasing a man suspected to have defiled his six year old daughter while concealing whereabouts of his other four year old child.

Hundreds of irked residents stormed into area Chief Augustine Kiprono’s office and whisked him away calling for his removal for allegedly failing to protect the rights of minors.

Residents say they had arrested a man alias Msanii on Wednesday evening after his daughter alleged he had been secretly defiling her and took him to the chief’s office.

Villagers claim the suspect was released and vanished after he allegedly bribed the administrator hence defeating justice.
