Chief busted reselling Illicit liqour

A female chief at Uthiru Muthua area in Nairobi now risks losing her job after she was allegedly found reselling confiscated illicit liquor.

Angry area residents, police and Dagoreti South MP Dennis Waweru are reported to have raided the chief’s home and destroyed the illicit liquor.

This comes just a few hours after Interior Cabinet Secretary Joseph Nkaissery announced that a total of 99 chiefs and five OCPD’s have already been interdicted after they were found to be trading in illicit brew.

Interior CS further indicated that 20,000 suspects have also been arrested since the presidential declaration on the war against illicit brew.

“Over 16 million liters of illicit brew and hundreds of illegal drinking dens have also been destroyed since the campaign started,” the CS noted

The CS pledged motorbikes to ensure efficiency in traversing their areas of jurisdiction to security officials of government support in eradicating the vice.

The operation against illicit liquor and second-generation alcohol began last Thursday after President Uhuru Kenyatta met legislators from Central Kenya at State House in Nairobi.

In his pronouncement during the meeting, President Kenyatta banned the sale of second-generation liquor and ordered an immediate crackdown to tame the sale of illicit brew in the region.
