Chief caught on camera drunk sacked

A Nakuru administrator, who was caught on camera drunk in uniform during President Uhuru Kenyatta’s visit to Molo last week, has been sacked.

This is after a clip of the intoxicated administrator at the President’s function went viral on social media.

Mawingu sub location assistant chief Joseph Rotich became the newest internet sensation after he was caught on camera drunk at the function saying he did not care about the repercussion of his action while dismissing the President’s directive to ban illicit brew.

“I must drink, don’t bother with me. I am a man and I was ordered to do so during my initiation to adulthood,” he says in the video.

South Rift Regional Coordinator Wanyama Musiambo says Rotich has been dismissed from government service as per the code of regulation that guides the civil service.

Musiambo spelt-out that Rotich betrayed the trust bestowed upon him by the government saying he was accorded all the necessary tools needed to enable him perform effectively.

“He is well catered for, the uniform he abused represents the image of the government, but he has shown a negative picture which he is not employed to portray.”

He, however, maintained that the war on illicit brew will continue despite the administrators act, saying they have been doing a review on the operation weekly and 100,562 liters of illicit brew has been nabbed and destroyed by March 18th, 2016.

“Illicit brew is negative, it’s distractive and has retarded growth in the rural areas hence should be wiped out completely,” he said.

The assistant chief served with the Kenya Army and the General Service Unit between 1977 and 1991 before quitting.
