Chief killed in illicit brew raid

Residents of Tiloi Village in Ossen Location, Baringo West Sub-County are in mourning after their chief was stabbed to death during an illicit brew raid in the area.

Baringo County Commissioner Peter Okwayo confirmed the incident saying Senior Chief Jeremiah Chepkwony was killed at around 4pm while pouring illicit brew that had been nabbed in one of the homesteads.

Okwayo said the assailant attacked the former Administration Police (AP) officer and stabbed him in the neck, killing him instantly.

The commissioner added that a massive manhunt has been launched and a contingent of police officers sent to the village to catch the killer.

This comes weeks after another chief escaped death by a whisker in Mochongoi after assailants attacked him and burnt his house.

The chief is reportedly in hiding fearing for his life.
