Chiefs frustrating CCM party registration, Governor Ruto claims

Chiefs frustrating CCM party registration, Governor Ruto claims

Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto has accused the local administration of frustrating the recruitment of members to his Chama cha Mashinani Party.

The Bomet governor claimed that local chiefs are being used to interfere with the process of registration, pointing to an incident where three chiefs allegedly confiscated a list containing the details of some of their members following a bitter confrontation with party officials.

He claimed that the chiefs are receiving instructions from Bomet County Commissioner Mr Benard Leparmarai whom he said was working in cahoots with Jubilee Party officials.

However, Bomet County Commissioner Benard Leparmarai refuted the claims by Governor Isaac Ruto saying chiefs are government officials and cannot be involved in political party issues.
