Chiefs to get Ksh 10,000 in ID registration drive
Every chief who shall assist over 1,000 people to acquired national Identification cards in Nyatike constituency will received Ksh 10,000 while the chief with the highest number will receive Ksh 50,000 on top, this is according to Nyatike Member of Parliament Edick Omondi Anyanga.
Speaking to radio Ramogi, Anganya said the initiative is to motivate the chiefs to revamp their effort in the ID campaign.
Anyanga said he will ensure that his promise is fulfilled to see majority of the people getting IDs and voters card ahead of the 2017 polls.
He said Nyatike has the biggest population in Migori county but very few people have been participating in elections.
The legislator has also called on the registrar of persons to have a special programme of reaching schools to issue IDs to students who have attained the age of 18 years.
Anyanga noted that issuing IDs to students will not only help them express their democratic rights through election but will also help them in applying for courses and jobs.
He urged the people of Nyatike to ensure that they have IDs and voters cards saying it is through the two documents that they will choose the kind of leadership they desire.
