Child Abuse: Mother arrested over defilement of seven-year-old daughter
Residents of Kambi ya Juu area of Isiolo have rescued a seven-year-old girl who was allegedly defiled by men brought home by her mother.
The matter came to light when concerned neighbours at a residential estate in Isiolo town investigated the goings-on at the home of a commercial sex worker.
They found that the woman had been abusing the child, bringing clients back home and allowing them to abuse her two children; a 4-year-old boy and a seven-year-old girl who was ill but had not been attended to.
When confronted, the woman denied defiling the minor and claimed that she had not raised enough money to take her daughter to hospital. She also denied reports that she had brought her clients home.
Waso location Assistant Chief Sarah Kananu confirmed the incident, thanking neighbours for volunteering the information that was channeled through the Nyumba Kumi official in the area.
The two children were taken to hospital for a medical examination and treatment while the mother was arrested and is in police custody pending further investigations into the incident.
The minors will be moved to their grandmother’s home.
