China strongly condemns killing of Russian ambassador to Turkey

China is willing to work with the international community in anti-terrorism cooperation, said a spokeswoman of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Tuesday in Beijing.

Hua Chunying, the spokeswoman, made the remarks at a press briefing in response to Russia’s confirmation that its Ambassador to Turkey Andrey Karlov died in a shooting attack on Monday in Ankara.

“China is deeply shocked and in deep grief at the incident that Russia’s ambassador to Turkey was shot dead. It is a barbarian terrorist attack that seriously endangers the safety of diplomat’s personal life, and China strongly condemns it. We express our deep condolences to Ambassador Karlov’s death and give sincere sympathy to his family, the Russian government, and the Russian people,” said Hua Chunying.

“I also would like to reiterate China’s firm opposition to terrorism in all forms and its support for the efforts and actions made by Russia and Turkey to crack down on terrorism. China is willing to work with the international community to intensify cooperation in combating terrorism,” Hua added.
