Chinese man wanted over illegal gambling racket in Embu

Police in Embu are looking for a Chinese man suspected to be involved in the illegal gambling machine business.

According to County Commissioner Esther Maina, a tip off from members of the public led them to a home in Gakwegori Village, a place that turned out to be an assembly and distribution point.

“We have recovered 177 machines worth Ksh.11.9million. The owner of the house has been arrested and is being detained at Embu Police Station to aid in further investigations that may lead to the arrest of the Chinese suspect,” she said.

Maina further urged landlords to work closely with the police and assist in identifying foreigners who might be running illegal businesses in Embu County.

The owner of the premises is to be arraigned in court on charges of aiding and abetting the foreigner to carry out illegal activities in the country.
