Church leader fails to secure Ksh.400K bond in rape, abortion case

A church leader who was charged with rape of a Form Three student will remain in custody after failing to secure a Ksh.400,000 bond.

A Meru law court made the ruling on Friday in the case involving rape of a minor.

Charles Koronya, 35, a deliverance church leader in Ruiri, is also accused of helping the student procure an abortion in separate incidences.

The suspect however pleaded not guilty to both charges when he appeared before Senior Resident Magistrate Edward TShimonjero.

The cases will be heard on April 4 and April 10 respectively at the Meru law courts.
