Clerics ask President Kenyatta, Raila to preach peace

Pentecostal Churches of Kenya have called upon both President Uhuru Kenyatta and NASA leader, Raila Odinga to stop being adamant in their political positions to ensure that the October 26 repeat presidential election is conducted as directed by the Supreme Court.

Addressing the press in Banana town, Kiambu County on Sunday, the clergy said they were contented with the decision made by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission Chairperson, Wafula Chebukati, to leave out chief executive officer, Ezra Chiloba, from the newly-constituted committee that will oversee the fresh poll.

The Kiambaa Interdenominational Forum Secretary General, Grace Mungai, urged the National Super Alliance to refrain from issuing threats of boycotting elections if their so-called irreducible minimums are not met, insisting that it is not health for the country.

“Our country is an independent Kenya so my opinion today is to request all the clergy in Kenya to bring all the people together so that we can speak in one language, peace and peace and peace,” added the group’s chairperson, Ayub Kamoche.
