CID officer shoots himself after domestic quarrel

A CID officer from Kayole Police Station died after shooting himself in the head on Monday at Nyayo Estate in Embakasi, Nairobi.

According to neighbors, the deceased had tried to shoot his wife and two children, who luckily managed to escape unharmed, before turning the gun on himself.

The neighbours intimated that the man had of late become violent towards his wife who he beat almost every night.

Confirming the incident, area police boss Apolo Wanyonyi told journalists that the officer had also fired indiscriminately at neighbors before shooting himself.

Police have launched investigations into the incident although the man is said to have left a suicide note.
