CJ Appoints A 3-Judge Bench To Hear Johos Case

The bench comprising justices Christine Meoli, Edward Muriithi and Martin Muya will sit at the Mombasa High Court.

This comes after a voter in Mombasa County Silas Otuke last year, filed the case claiming that Joho’s degree from Kampala University was not genuine.

The case was heard by Justice Muriithi who certified the matter as a constitutional issue which warrants a consideration by a three judge bench.

The Kampala University however came out three weeks ago to defend his papers saying they were valid.

Kampala University Vice Chancellor Badru Katerega denied claims by Uganda's National Council for Higher Education that Joho's degree was fake adding that it will not withdraw the document.

Speaking at a news conference in Nairobi, the Vice Chancellor said the degree was authentic and will not be revoked.

Joho’s level of education was a matter of court case where a Mombasa voter is contesting his election as governor claiming that he does not have a degree, a pre-requisite to be elected governor.
