CJ Mutunga Hosts Security, Intelligence Chiefs Over Terror

The judiciary insists it will not flout the constitution and deny terror suspects bail as demanded by the national security chiefs, in the public interest of securing the state. Chief justice Dr Willy Mutunga, after a three-hour meeting with the leadership of the national security organs said though terrorism was a serious matter, all articles of the constitution must be upheld and the fight against terror must not be in contradiction with the bill of rights. the meeting was attended by among others, interior affairs cabinet minister Joseph ole Lenku, his defence counterpart Raychelle Omamo, chief of defence forces Gen Julius Karangi, Inspector General of Police David Kimaiyo, director general of the national intelligence service Michael Gichangi and CID director Ndegwa Muhoro.
