Class two pupil shot during Migori protests

An eight-year-old boy has been shot and wounded in Migori County during a confrontation between police and angry protesters in the region.

Polycarp Ochieng, a Class Two pupil in Assar Johanson Primary School, was playing at their estate when a stray bullet struck to the stomach.

The boy has since been referred to Migori Level  IV hospital for a blood transfusion where three other people injured by police are hospitalised.

Migori has been a political hotspot in the run-up to the repeat election and several have been shot dead and many injured during confrontations with the police.

Residents have been engaging police in running battles in protests against the repeat presidential election that was concluded on Thursday (October 26) in most parts of the country but was postponed to Saturday (October 28) in Migori, Kisumu, Siaya and Homa Bay counties.

However, Opposition leader Raila Odinga has urged his supporters in the four counties to stay at home and boycott the repeat poll tomorrow.
