Clergy Call for Tolerance Despite Terror Attacks

Speaking in a service at Ufungamano House where a requiem mass was held in memory of the students killed in the attack, church leaders, led by Cardinal John Njue and the Anglican Archbishop Eliud Wabukala, urged Kenyans to come together for peace.

They warned that the killings were getting out of hand and that the security apparatus should work harder.

STAND IN UNITY

The clergy asked every individual to pray for the victims and their families and to share a common stand of unity against such attacks that try to create religious and ethnic divisions.

Speaking at the same event, British High Commissioner Chris Turner said that this was a difficult moment for Kenya.

“Dialogue and tolerance in the face of fear and anger will beat terrorism and not military hardware,” said he.

He added that the British Government shares Kenya’s pain and supports the country through this difficult moment.

The prayer meeting was organised to offer prayers and remember the students of Garissa University who perished in an Al Shabab attack a month ago.
