Clergy opposes six piece voting pattern

A member of the clergy in Embu County has urged voters to avoid voting in ‘six piece’ and instead elect visionary leaders who address their plights and are accountable when they obtain leadership roles.

Speaking at Kirirai in Embu North, Trancente Christ Minister Church leader, Joseph Wega, said that it is time for voters to listen to manifestos and visions that the leaders are propagating rather than falling voting for candidates from the same party.

“The ‘six piece’ pattern voting has not yielded any tangible results as leaders are more concerned about their party leaders rather than the plight of the electorate,’’ he said.

Wega also said that voters have the right to vote for whomever they want but they need to scrutinize their manifesto in order to be able to have leaders who can address their issues.

He urged church leaders to speak about good governance and accountability rather than hiding behind the spiritual world while the sheep they administer to are suffering.

Wega added that the church has a role to play in guiding the voters by enlightening their followers on the kind of leaders to be elected.
