Clergy wants candidates of questionable integrity out of race

The clergy has called on the Independent Electoral Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to ensure that the integrity of the candidates is maintained ahead of the August 8 elections.

The clerics, drawn from different denominations, said the polls body had created a loop hole in fighting graft when it allowed aspirants with pending corruption cases to contest in the coming elections.

“We find this to be a huge setback on the war against corruption. We appeal to you Kenyans, make use of your ballot by voting out every person who has integrity questions.”

The team questioned the criteria used by the IEBC to clear candidates listed by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).

The electoral body has been on the spotlight since the EACC submitted a list of 106 candidates with questionable integrity.
