Clinton gets early win at Dixville Notch

Voting got underway in the New Hampshire hamlet of Dixville Notch on the stroke of midnight.

It was all over about a quarter of an hour later with a resounding victory for Hillary Clinton.

Of the eight votes cast, Clinton took four, Trump two.

The hamlet’s one of three White Mountain communities with populations of less than 100 allowed to open the polls at midnight and close as soon as everyone’s voted.

As the final countdown to election day ticked on, Clinton and Trump have been touring battleground states as the race tightens.

Dixville Notch and two other tiny White Mountains communities with small communities, Hart’s Location and Millsfield, are permitted to open their polls at midnight and close them moments later provided that everyone who wants to vote has been able to do so.

The final result in Dixville Notch gave Hillary Clinton a resounding four votes, her rival Donald Trump got two.
