Coast security beefed up ahead of head teachers meeting

Coast Regional Coordinator Nelson Marwa on Sunday said security had been beefed up ahead of the festive season and annual Kenya Primary School head teachers conference that is set to begin on Monday (December 4).

Addressing a press conference, Marwa said security officers had been deployed at various parts of the coastal region including in hotels. He further urged hoteliers to maintain high standards of hygiene as the region prepares to receive both local and international guests.

This comes only a few days after two people were confirmed dead and 27 others treated and discharged following an outbreak of Cholera in parts of Mvita and Jomvu in Mombasa county.

More than 10,000 primary school head teachers from across the country are expected to converge in the coastal city to deliberate on education matters.

On the other hand, Marwa challenged youth and local residents to give politics a break and embark on constructive activities instead of engaging in ‘wasteful’ debates.

Marwa also thanked six coast governors including Ali Hassan Joho for maintaining peace during the election period.
