Isiolo county top finance officials will spend Thursday night in police cells for failing to pay a pending bill within and previously agreed upon  time.

Abdinasir Dawood, a Chief Executive Committee Member at the Finance ministry and Peter Ngechu, Finance Chief Officer, were arrested and taken to Isiolo court and charged with breaching a contract.

The court heard that  on August 13, 2019,it had been ordered that the complainant be paid Ksh. 80M  by December 15 the same year.

The complainant further said that the county officials had only begun remitting the money in March 2020.

According to the plaintiff, the duo was in breach of the contract deliberately as the money for paying the pending bills which would  have cleared the said bill by the said dates.

The next bunch of Ksh. 83M is to be paid on or before September 15, 2020.

Defence lawyer Kiogora Mugambi however maintained that the county honored the contract with delays but promised the county government would settle the balance before September 15.

Isiolo Court Chief Magistrate Samuel Mungai ruled that the officials spend the night at the Isiolo police station pending a ruling on the matter on Friday.
