Collect ID cards, Kimemia tells Kenyans

Former Head of Civil Service and Secretary to the Cabinet Francis Kimemia has called on Kenyans to ensure they collect their identification cards (IDs) since it is a constitutional right, adding that the document will enable them participate in the upcoming polls.

Kimemia added that it is against the law for anyone who has attained the age of 18 years to fail to apply for an ID card, adding that this would also deny them opportunities to register as voters.

The former PS cautioned leaders against reckless statements which he said would spur violence and animosity among Kenyans. He challenged the leaders to be instruments of peace for the sake of the unity and development growth of the country.

Kimemia also challenged leaders from Nyandarua County to embrace unity, cautioning them against persistent bickering which he said has stalled development in the region.

He noted that the county was blessed with a diversity of resources; however lack of unity would leave this massive potential unrealized.

Kimemia challenged the leaders to focus their energies on addressing critical issues affecting the area among them education, water and agriculture in order to enable the region achieve the 10% development growth.
