Colonial Era Landmines Detonated In Wajir

The landmines were found by livestock herders who were grazing in the area.

The herders alerted security officers who responded quickly by detonating the explosives.

The bombs are believed to have been left behind during the Second World War.

Locals claim that some of them had in the past been crippled by such explosives.

They asked the government to move quickly and clear the devices to avoid loss of lives in the area.

Wajir County Police Commander David Kirui has urged the locals to provide information on any suspicious devices
