Confusion as DCI detectives find missing Class 8 girl at her aunts home in Nyakach

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have found a 13-year-old Class 8 pupil who went missing a week ago.

A statement posted by the DCI on Twitter said Winnie Adhiambo was found at her aunt’s home in Nyakach.

The detectives handling the matter are puzzled at how the minor travelled from her parent’s Upper Hill home to Nyakach amid suspicion that she had been lured by online fraudsters.

Her parents who spoke to Citizen TV said she had started taking private online tuition in July in a culmination of events that led to her disappearance.

Adhiambo went missing on Sunday, October 11. She had earlier in the day asked her parents for permission to go play with her friends.

She did not return home that day. Her disappearance was reported at the Kenyatta National Hospital police station.

Her parents recollected how she was in constant communication with unknown people.

Her father said she had seen her in the company of an unidentified man leaving the National Library.

She later confessed to her mother that the mysterious male friend was the brother to her best friend.

After she went missing, her parents found examinations which had been issued,  marked, and graded by an unknown teacher.

A telephone number which was appended to the answer sheet was used by detectives to uncover the communication trail, leading to her discovery.
