Contraband rice, spaghetti worth Ksh.10m destroyed by KEBS
A multi-agency team comprising DCI detectives, KRA officials, and Kenya Bureau of Standard (KEBS) officials on Thursday oversaw the destruction of contraband rice and spaghetti worth Ksh.10M.
The contraband which comprised 5,857 cartons of spaghetti and over 6,200 cartons of rice were impounded in Mombasa by a multi-agency team in October 2018
They underwent KEBS’s requisite testing and were deemed unfit for human consumption and consequently destroyed in a legal procedure supervised by coast officials on Thursday.
The substandard human foods comprised of 5,857 cartons of Spaghetti & over 6,200Kgs of Rice.
The exercise was witnessed by the multi-agency team comprising of officers drawn from @DCI_Kenya, @KRACorporate, @NPSOfficial_KE & @KEBS_ke.
