Contraband toothpaste, fabric conditioners seized in Donholm

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations on Friday confiscated an assortment of contraband goods in Donholm, Nairobi.

The contraband toothpaste packs were labelled LMZ and fabric conditioners were in boxes labelled Morning Fresh.

The bunch…belonging to TechPack Industries were seized in S.M COKA Water Transporter yard,” the DCI said on Saturday.

One suspect, Juvenaries Nzivo has been arrested as investigations proceed.

The estimated value of the seized goods is however yet to be established.

In November this year, police confiscated contraband cigarettes with an estimated value of Ksh. 18million.

Four suspects were arrested after they were found distributing the cigarettes at Kenyatta Market.

The previous month, police revealed that an officer from the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) linked to uncustomed cigarettes worth Ksh.10 million was on the run.

It was said that the official fled in the company of an officer from the Administration Police Service who had been escorting the lorry  that had the cigarettes.

And in October, three police officers were arrested while transporting bhang and an assortment of other goods in Kitui County.

Japhet Fondo, Bob Otieno and Michael Mwangi were nabbed by a multi-agency security team near Kanyonyoo market on the Garissa– Thika Highway.

The officers were carrying 68 bales of bhang weighing 245 kilograms in a police land cruiser.
