Controversial Businessman Paul Kobia released in Ksh500,000 bail

Controversial Businessman Paul Kobia has pleaded not guilty to kidnapping a Congolese man named Blanchard Londole.

Kobia faces two other criminal counts of behaving in a disorderly manner while in possession of a firearm and assault.

He was arraigned before Nairobi Chief Magistrate Francis Andayi and was released on a cash bail of Ksh500,000.

Kobia was arrested early last month at his house in Kindaruma, Kilimani for allegedly kidnapping the said businessman who he claimed owed him Ksh40 million.

Police said the businessman allegedly went to Londole’s house on Kindaruma road and threatened him with a gun, which they confiscated.

The prosecution claimed that he assaulted the complainant and was treated at Nairobi Women’s Hospital.

Kobia has been charged alongside his four bodyguards Alvin AnZaya, Nelson Muyi, John Mutwiri and Martin Mwangi. His bodyguards have also denied the charges and were all granted Ksh500,000 cash bail each.
