Cop arrested for using police lorry to transport charcoal, aloe vera

A police officer has been arrested for using the official service vehicle to transport forest produce without the necessary documents in Trans Nzoia County.

Police Corporal Gilbert Mbilivili was nabbed by officers from the Kenya Forest Service (KFS) on Sunday morning along the Kapenguria – Kitale road following a tip-off.

The police lorry he was driving was impounded, upon which a search was conducted and 7 bags of charcoal and 165 bags of aloe vera estimated to weigh about 5,000kgs were recovered.

The produce is believed to have been on transit to Nairobi.

The owner of the consignment, 34-year-old Jelal Musa, who was also on board the lorry, was arrested for lack of necessary documentation.

The police lorry is presently being detained at the Kitale Police Station where Corporal Mbilivili is also being held awaiting in necessary action to be taken against him.
