Cop found dead with throat slit at his home in Embakasi

A cop has been found dead with the throat slit at his house in Embakasi, Nairobi.

In the wee hours of Wednesday morning, police were alerted that Cpl. Jonathan Korir Kipkemoi had allegedly committed suicide at his home within the Rapid Deployment Unit (RDU) AP Line.

“SOBB, SCCIO AND STAPOL Embakasi immediately proceeded to the scene and established that today (Wednesday) at around 0400hours No. 225231 APC Kanyale heard distressing noise from the deceased’s unit. He immediately peeped through a hole on the unit door and saw the deceased groaning in pain in a pool of blood,” a police report reads in part.

According to the report, the door was locked from the inside and had to be broken down.

However, by the time the officer managed to break in, his colleague is said to have already succumbed to the injuries on his neck.

The 42-year-old officer was found with a deep cut on the throat and a stained knife beside him.

“The deceased had a history of mental illness and had been discharged from Chriromo Lane Hospital on 10/6/2020,” the police report adds.

Crime scene officers from Embakasi processed and documented the scene while the blood stained kitchen knife was collected as an exhibit.

Police said no suicide note was found at the scene.

The body was taken to Chiromo Mortuary awaiting postmortem and an inquest file has been opened.
