Cop, his wife arrested for ‘kidnapping’ baby

A police officer, guarding a Member of Parliament in Nyandarua County, and his wife are being held at Sagana Police Station for allegedly kidnapping a four-month-old girl two weeks ago at Kibingoti village, Sagana.

Kirinyaga Police Commander, Joseph Nthenge, said that the four-month-old baby was found with the officer’s wife in their house at Kitengela, Kajiado after the police officer was arrested at Ol Kalou in Nyandarua County.

Nthenge said that officers from Sagana and Kerugoya were trailing the kidnappers since the parents of the child recorded a statement at Sagana Police Station.
The parents, Joseph Mbugua Mugambi and Lina Hariko Mbugua, said the baby was stolen at Kibingoti after her mother was promised permanent job that never was.
