Cop kills colleague, injures two others

Police have launched investigations into an incident where a police officer shot dead his senior in Makueni County.

Reports from Makueni Police Division indicate that Friday Barasa who was recently deployed to the station, suddenly became uneasy and started issuing threats that he will kill somebody before picking an AK47 rifle and opened fire on other officers.

According to Makueni OCPD Bosita Omukolongolo, two other officers sustained gunshot injuries following the incident which saw the Wote deputy OCS, Dennis Wanjala, murdered in cold blood.

Meanwhile, medics at Makueni level 4 hospital led by Dr Emmanuel Laiposha say one of those who got injured has been referred to Kenyatta National Hospital for further treatment.

Officers from Administration Police Service, Kenya Police Service and Directorate of Criminal Investigations have launched a manhunt for the suspect who remains at large.

Denis Wanjala who was shot dead was serving at the division as deputy OCS and his body has since been moved to the Makueni Hospital Mortuary.

The area OCPD has also called for an immediate probe into the matter.
