Cops manning Church shot by gunmen

Police in Kwale County are in pursuit of four gunmen on motorbikes who shot dead two police officers and stole their firearms.

The officers were guarding worshipers at St. Paul’s ACK Church in Ukunda when the gunmen opened fire on them.

Kwale County Commissioner, Kutswa Olaka, and Conty police boss, Kenneth Kimani, say investigations have been launched to establish the motive behind the attack.

One officer died on the spot while the second passed away while receiving treatment at the Palm Beach Hospital in Kwale County.

Several worshipers sustained minor injuries following the commotion that ensued out of the shoot-out.

Kwale Governor, Salim Mvurya, has condemned the shooting, calling on security agencies to conduct swift investigations so that perpetrators are brought to book.
