Cops rescue 3 suspected thugs from lynching in Mombasa

Police officers in Jomvu, Mombasa arrested and detained three robbery with violence suspects on Monday morning.

According to reports, the three armed with knives and pangas raided the Birikani estate in the area on Sunday night, injuring three people.

Jomvu Police Commander Peter Maluki confirmed the incident, saying the three terrorized the residents before being cornered and beaten to within inches of their lives.

They were rescued from the beating by police officers on patrol who were alerted to the incident.

The police chief confirmed that efforts are being made to apprehend several other suspects who fled during the incident.

The three who were rescued from the mob are being treated at the Coast General Hospital under tight security.
