CORD behind Ngilu woes, Jubilee MPs claim

Members of Parliament from the Jubilee Coalition have expressed their support for suspended Lands Cabinet Secretary Charity Ngilu over allegations of corruption.

Led by Dagoretti South MP Dennis Waweru and Starehe MP Maina Kamanda, the MPs said that Ngilu was being hit by CORD coalition following her stand against corruption at the Ministry of Lands.

Speaking at Kepha Church in South B, Nairobi the legislators said the woes befalling Ngilu are in the public domain, saying the opposition should stop pointing fingers and apportioning blame regarding the matter.

The MPs also told CORD leader Raila Odinga to come clean on the allegations of mismanagement of funds allocated for Kazi kwa Vijana during his time as prime minister.

Speaking at the same event, Ngilu said she is still in government, adding that she will not be pushed out of the government.

Ngilu’s troubles began after she was named, together with four cabinet secretaries, in the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) list over allegations of corruption.

The CS is currently facing a court case where she is accused of obstructing investigations by EACC into illegal acquisition of land in Karen that was allegedly grabbed by high profile officials in the Ministry of Lands.
