CORD terms murder of Jacob Juma extra-judicial

The Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (CORD) leaders have called for formation of an inquest to establish the truth behind the mysterious murder of controversial businessman Jacob Juma.

Addressing the media at Parliament Buildings, CORD legislators led by FORD-Kenya leader Moses Wetangula and Kakamega Senator Dr. Bonny Khalwale also called for the arrest of those behind the murder of Juma.

Wetangula has also demanded for a report on the murder of former Kabete MP George Muchai.

Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga termed the murder of Juma as an extra-judicial killing.

Raila condemned the act saying killings are happening and no action is being taken.

Raila, who was speaking at the Lee Funeral Home, said Juma was vocal on matters affecting the country.

Meanwhile, Nairobi CID boss Ireri Kamwende says police have already launched an investigation following the death of Juma, who was Thursday night shot dead by unknown gunmen near Lenana School while on his way to his Karen home.

Kamwende said Juma was driving at around 9.30 last night when he was shot by the gunmen who allegedly escaped on a motorbike.

Kamwende added that  police found the body of the businessman inside his car which had about 10 bullet holes.

At the same time CID boss Ndegwa Muhoro has promised a speedy probe on the incident.

Juma had on several times claimed that his life was in danger and  had accused top government officials of plotting for his assassination.

Juma in 2013 claimed his mining license was revoked, after he allegedly declined to pay a bribe demanded by the then Mining Cabinet Secretary Najib Balala.
