CORD To Hold Consultative Rallies

The CORD leadership says it will now be holding consultative rallies where the masses will be the main speakers as leaders listen to them.

The consultative rallies will be a way of seeking the opinion of wananchi on various issues affecting them

The coalition was however quick to add that their scheduled rallies will go ahead as planned.

These include the weekend rally in Mombasa as well as Saba Saba rally later next month.

The rallies are set to take off on the 13th of June to the 7th of July.

The rallies will be held in Migori town, Mombasa, Kisii, Kakamega, Nakuru, Garissa, TBA, Eldoret, Narok, Kisumu, Machakos and finally in Nairobi.

The 'change' in tactic comes days after the Head of State Uhuru Kenyatta postponed indefinitely a national dialogue conference the government had convened for next month.

The conference dubbed ‘The National Rebirth Conference’ was put off due to what State House called politicization of the talks.

State House added that those who were to be invited included CORD leaders Raila Odinga, Kalonzo Musyoka, Narc Kenya leader Martha Karua and Amani coalition leader Musalia Mudavadi, as well as the Speakers of both Houses.

State House Spokesperson Manoah Esipisu in a statement also said that several heads of state and governments were also to be invited.

They include Ellen Johnson Sirleaf (Liberia), Paul Kagame (Rwanda), Jorge Carlos Fonseca (Cape Verde), Prime Minister of Mauritius Navin Ramgoolam, former President of South Africa Thabo Mbeki, Chairperson of the African Union Commission Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma and former Prime Minister of New Zealand and UNDP Administrator Helen Clark.
