Coronavirus in Kenya: 431 new cases, five deaths, 79 recoveries

431 people have tested positive for coronavirus in Kenya out of a sample size of 4,627 tested in the last 24 hours.

The Health Ministry said on Sunday that Kenya’s caseload is now 113,236. Cumulative tests so far conducted are 1,369,326.

From the cases 414 are Kenyans while 17 are foreigners. 272 are males and 159 are females. The youngest is a seven-year-old child while the oldest is 100.

79 patients have recovered from the disease: 50 are from the Home Based and Isolation Care while 29 are from various health facilities. Total recoveries now stand at 88,405.

Five patients succumbed to the disease pushing the cumulative fatalities to 1,913.

A total of 668 patients are currently admitted to various health facilities countrywide, while 2,080 patient are on Home Based Isolation and Care.

114 patients are in the Intensive are Unit (ICU), 24 of whom are on ventilatory support and 76 on supplementary oxygen. 14 patients are on observation.

Another 27 patient are separately on supplementary oxygen with 24 of them in the general wards and 3 in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).

In terms of county distribution, Nairobi had  cases252, Nandi 83, Machakos 47, Busia 12, Kiambu 11, Kajiado 10, Uasin Gishu 7, Kilifi 4, Nyandarua 2, Makueni 1, Murang’a 1 and Nakuru 1.

In terms of sub county distribution, the 252 cases in Nairobi are from Dagoretti North (28), Kamukunji (26), Embakasi West (25), Embakasi Central (18), Makadara (17), Ruaraka (16), Westlands (15), (13), Embakasi South, Kasarani, Kibra and Mathare (11) cases each, Embakasi East, Roysambu and Dagoretti South (10) cases each, Embakasi North 6.

In Nandi all the 83 cases are from Emgwen. In Machakos the 47 cases are from Machakos Town River (5), Matungulu, (13) Athi River (5), MwaIa and Kangundo (4) cases each, Kathiani (2) and Masinga (1).

In Busia the 12 cases are from Teso North (7) and Matayos (5). In Kiambu the 11 cases are from Ruiru (3), Kikuyu and Limuru (2) cases each, Lari, Juja, Kabete and Kiambu Town (1) case each.

In Kajiado the 10 cases are from Kajiado East (2). In Uasin Gishu all the 7 cases are from Moiben. In Kilifi the 4 cases are from Nalindi (2), Kilifi North and Magarini
(1) case each. In Nyandarua all the 2 cases are from Kinangop.

The case in Makueni is from Mbooni, the case in Murang’a is from Kangema and the case in Nakuru is from Nakuru East.
