Coronavirus: Kenya records 64 new cases, 55 recoveries and 4 deaths

The total number of confirmed positive Coronavirus cases in Kenya has hit 96,678 after 64 new cases were recorded, the Ministry of Health said in a statement on Saturday.

The new infection were from 1,852 samples tested in the last 24 hours and push to 1,052,836 as the total number of samples tested so far.

From the cases, 59 are Kenyans while five are foreigners; 35 are male while 29 are female.

The youngest patient is a six-year-old child while the oldest is 81.

Across the country, the cases are distributed as follows: Nairobi 34, Kisii 5, Laikipia 5, Meru 3, Machakos 3, Mombasa 2, Busia 2, Taita Taveta 2, Kiambu 1, Embu 1, Kajiado 1, Kilifi 1, Nakuru 1, Nyandarua 1, Siaya 1 and Uasin Gishu 1.

In terms of Sub County Distribution; In Nairobi, the 34 cases are from Lang’ata (7), Dagoretti North, Embakasi Central, Kibra and Starehe (3) cases each, Embakasi West, Kamukunji and Kasarani (2) cases each, Dagoretti South, Embakasi East, Embakasi North, Embakasi South, Makadara, Mathare, Roysambu, Ruaraka and Westlands (1) case each.

In Kisii all the 5 cases are from Kitutu Chache South. In Laikipia all the 5 cases are from Laikipia West.

In Meru the 3 cases are from Imenti South (2) and Imenti Central (1).

In Machakos all the 3 cases are from Machakos Town.

In Mombasa the 2 cases are from Jomvu and Nyali (1) case each.

In Busia the 2 cases are from Matayos and Teso North (1) case each.

The Ministry of Health also announced 55 new recoveries, saying 41 were from the Home-Based Care Program, while 14 were discharged from various hospitals.

At the same time, Kenya’s Coronavirus death toll has hit 1,685 after 4 patients succumbed in the last 24 hours.
