Coronavirus: Police officers in Nigeria quote Bible to defiant pastors

Police officers in Nigeria have resorted to a different technique in taming defiant pastors who have disregarded directives to close places of worship.

The pastors are now getting a dose of their medicine- a sermon from the holy book- before they are arrested and detained.

In a now viral video, the Enforcement Team of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) storms the Jesus Reigns Family Church in Apo and arrests the General Overseer.

Before he is arrested in front of his tongue-tied congregation for violating the control measures put in place to contain the spread of coronavirus, he is given a divine dress-down.:

“Consequently, whoever rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves,” An officer quotes the bible before leading the preacher out.

Head of the enforcement team, Ikharo Attah, said the church was in session when the team arrived.

They had to wait for the sermon to be over to avoid a confrontation and when it was over, Attah jumped in, with a few verses of his own.

“He was immediately taken to the FCT Police Command at Garki and handed over to policemen on duty,” Attah said.
