Council Of Governors Launch Children Deworming Exercise

The program which is in its third year aims at deworming 5.4 million children aged between 2 to 14 years in 28 counties.

Council of Governors chairman Isaac Rutto, who regrets that there is a lot of propaganda against health management issues in the country, says that as Governors  are keen to implement their mandate on health as a major priority area for all counties.

According to Rutto, the council acknowledges that counties will only grow if they have competent and health citizens.

Ruto stated that, children’s health is more crucial as they represent the future of the counties and the country as a whole.

Speaking during the launch,Siaya county Governor Cornel Rasanga expressed concerns that the county has a very heavy burden of worms and bilharzia hence  there need for intervention and treatment

 

JIGGERS MENACE

Rasanga said that despite the fact that education if free, students with worms cannot benefit or concentrate in class due to poor health.

He, therefore, assured that together with his colleague Governors they will work to ensure they provide excellent health services to every citizen.

Governor Rasanga pointed out besides worms and bilharzia, jiggers in another menace that has been affecting performance of children in the county hence called on the County Executive Committee member for health Dr. Edward Owila to organize a jigger day so that affected children can receive help.

Present were the Council of Governors Health Committee Jack Ranguma  Kisumu Governor and Kericho Governor Prof. Peter Chepkwony who assured of their efforts to implement their mandate on health which is both a devolved function and a major priority area for all counties.
