Counties to contribute Ksh 1M each towards drought mitigation

Each county government has undertaken to contribute one million shillings to Kenya Red Cross towards drought mitigation efforts as drought continues to bit in various counties across the country.
Council of Governors chair, Peter Munya, says each governor will also make a personal contribution to the kitty to back ongoing efforts to deal with effects of the ravaging drought and hunger.
According to Munya, more than 1.3 million Kenyans in more than 20 counties are currently facing starvation due to the ravaging drought situation.
Governors are now calling on National Government to work with the 47 county governments to review programs aimed at mitigating effects of drought, including distribution of relief food.
